Progress Energy Foundation makes award to LCEF
The Progress Energy Foundation has awarded the Lee County Education Foundation 15,000 to fund the Teachers and Scientists Collaborating (TASC) program in the Lee County schools. TASC is a National Science Foundation sponsored program that provides K-8 classroom teachers with training in the use of inquiry based science kits. As many as 45 Lee County elementary school teachers will be trained in inquiry based science using a curriculum that is aligned with the NC Standard Course of Study. Teachers will bring science kits back to their classrooms where students will have opportunities to learn through inquiry. TASC is affiliated with the Pratt School of Engineering, Duke University. On behalf of the teachers and students of Lee County, thank you Progress Energy!
